Indo-Canadian Business Association’s 17th Annual Student Achievement Awards held on May 19, 2016 at Crown Palace Banquet. I-CBA is a non-profit organization that regards education veryhighly and they firmly believe that it is instrumental to betterment our society. Since the inception of these awards in 1997, ICBA has awarded students with over $300,000 in scholarship fundsIMG_8933.

The Director of I-CBA, Jasvinder (Jolly) Dhaliwal sat with Asian Journal for a quick interview. He said, “The intent of our Student Achievement Awards is to support exceptional students achieve their educational goals. By providing financial assistance, these students are able to obtain a post-secondary education from a Canadian University. Our vision is to invest in our future by fostering students to become productive citizens in our community.

Individuals who will not only demonstrate academic excellence, but also inspire others and become involved in the community. In addition to our existing academic awards, we have also introduced an athletic and special needs award that has proven to be inspirational to our organization.”I-CBA has also partnered with Simon Fraser University to introduce Punjabi classes at the University. An instructor will be hired to teach the classes and ICBA’s donation will support part of the position. SFU will match community donations up to $10,000 per year for three years.IMG_8840IMG_8922
