FrontVancouver: For many youth, the opportunity to play on the same field as the professional athletes they see on TV, seems far-fetched. But for 700 kids from schools on Vancouver’s eastside, the dream became a reality as they set foot onto the field at BC Place Stadium this past Monday, May 30.

Kids Play Foundation, in cooperation with 14 Vancouver elementary schools, brought 60 teams and 700 youth to the same pitch as the Vancouver Whitecaps and BC Lions.

“Our goal was to build a relationship with youth at a young age so that a sense of community, safety and integrity become well entrenched values, “says Kal Dosanjh, Founder of Kids Play.  “Developing these relationships early are critical to steering youth to make positive life choices.  Sports, and this event in particular, is a fantastic way to build that bridge.”
