Kabul: On Thursday, Afghanistan released 65 accused militants from a former US prison near Kabul. This  move has further strained the  relations between Washington and Kabul.

The atmosphere of  mistrust has been building between two nations for some time and now this move has made the relations very tense. Earlier, Karzai had refused to sign a long-negotiated bilateral security pact.

The prisoners were freed from the Parwan Detention Facility near the US Bagram Air Field. According to US, the men released are responsible for killing or wounding dozens of international and Afghan soldiers, as well as civilians.
