Richmond: The AISTS, the Swiss-based interdisciplinary centre of excellence in sport management, has announced its official partnership with Canada’s City of Richmond in a positive move highlighting the importance of sustainability in sport. Supported by Principal Supporting Partner, the International Olympic Committee and jointly developed by AISTS and VANOC, the Toolkit aims to provide event organisers and cities the knowledge and tools to incorporate sustainability into their daily operations and to execute successful and sustainable major sport events. “We are especially proud to be working with, and supporting the City of Richmond in its mission of being ‘A Sustainable City’,” says Dr Claude Stricker, AISTS Executive Director. “Our City showcases sustainable practices to the world through the Richmond Olympic Oval, a premier venue and legacy of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. We also strive to incorporate sustainability initiatives in the many sport, cultural and other events that we host at the Oval and around our community,” said Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie.
