Split wide open with Surrey Mayor
Surrey: Surrey City Councillor Barinder Rasode tweeted she will sit as an independent in City council. Ideological differences with City team led her to decide to leave Surrey First (SF).
Rasode said that the relationship with her team has become increasingly unfriendly as she felt isolated after she spoke out on some significant issues. She blamed that policy making in closed board room rather than at council table and issue of public safety, spending at city hall forced her to decide to sit as an independent on City council. She tweeted that she left SF to be a more effective voice. Rasode said once Mayor Dianne Watts makes her intentions regarding November city elections clear then she will decide if she will run for Mayor or not. But she will definitely run for November election whether it’s for Mayor or as a Councillor.
