Nootka Sound: The Nootka Sound RCMP are investigating a Bell helicopter crash that occurred in Gold River on April 30, 2014 at approximately 7:30am. Reports indicate that the helicopter was attempting to take off from a local helicopter air base when it suffered possible mechanical issues. The helicopter crashed a short time after takeoff, suffering a hard landing on a nearby parking lot.
On board were three forestry workers being transported to a nearby heli logging operation. The pilot and forestry workers sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital for further examination and treatment. The helicopter sustained extensive damage. The Helicopter was operated by Black Tusk Helicopters. The RCMP will assist Transport Canada as they continue to investigate.
