For the Burger:

400 gms can black beans rinsed and drained

1/2 green bell pepper (finely chopped)

4 green onion (finely chopped)

2 cloves garlic peeled (finely chopped and toasted/fried)

2 cup bread crumbs

1 Tsp crushed hot green chilles

1 tsp cumin toasted

Salt & Pepper to taste

Sliced Cheddar cheese

Avocado ripe

Black bean burgerFor the Sriracha Mayo Sauce

1 cup mayonnaise

1 Tbsp Honey

2 Tbsp sriracha sauce (add hotness as per taste)

2 tsp lime juice

Salt and pepper


To make the Burger:

Place rinsed and drained black beans in a bowl. If needed, blot them with a paper towel to remove any extra moisture. Place in a large bowl and mash well with a fork.

Add the vegetable mixture to the bowl with the black beans. Add the chillies, cumin and salt and pepper and stir to combine. Stir in bread crumbs. Form mixture into 4 patties. (or as big as your burger bun)

At this point you can choose to:

Bake them at pre-heated 350 degrees on a lightly oiled baking sheet, for 5 minutes on each side. OR

Cook them on your stove using a grill pan with light oil, for 2-3  minutes on each side, Or until brown and crisp.

For the Chipotle Mayo Sauce:

Add all the ingredients to a food processor or blender and puree until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve burgers on a white or whole wheat bun topped with a spoonful of chipotle mayo, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and avocado.

You can also add any other topping of your choic
