LYNNE Yelich, Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Consular) on Thursday attended a commemorative ceremony in honour of the victims of the terrorist attacks that took place in 2008 in Mumbai.
“This week we mark the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, which claimed the lives of 166 innocent victims, including two Canadians, and affected countless others,” said Yelich.
“We remember the victims of the Mumbai attacks, and our thoughts are with those whose lives were changed forever by this senseless act of violence.
“The attacks were masterminded by networks in Pakistan that continue to operate. Canada stands in solidarity with the government and people of India in the ongoing struggle against international terrorism and violent extremism.”
Yelich is visiting Mumbai and Delhi to meet with government and business leaders in order to further bilateral and commercial ties between Canada and India.
