Interested in a career in healthcare? Like to work as part of a team? The Health Care Assistant program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) prepares individuals to work as frontline caregivers, helping those who may be experiencing diverse and/or complex health challenges.
KPU’s Health Care Assistant Certificate program exceeds the requirements set out by the BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry, in both theory, and clinical hours. The program has received full recognition from the registry, better preparing graduates to enter the healthcare industry in a variety of settings such as acute care, assisted living, and home support. Courses in KPU’s program include interpersonal communication, technology for health care, health and healing: concepts for practice, in addition to a clinical practice.
According to WorkBC, health care aides in the province can earn up to $27/hour, with over 2,200 job openings in the industry predicted by the year 2025.
For more than 30 years, Kwantlen Polytechnic University has given students the skills they need for the careers they want. KPU offers a range of degree, diploma, certificate, and citation programs with opportunities for hands-on experience and experiential learning. Why stop at theory, when you can also harness the power of experience? Launch your career and make a positive impact on your community with experiential learning at KPU: where thought meets action.
