Surrey: On October 31, 2015 at 7:00 pm Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a child having been struck by a motor vehicle while trick or treating in the 13200 block 62 Avenue. Once police were on scene they discovered a woman with a child, both of whom were suffering from injuries. A male was operating his motor vehicle and negotiating a turn when he noted the female with the child, he attempted to stop in time, however, was not able to. At this time it is not clear whether the woman and the child were in a marked cross walk. Alcohol is not a factor. the driver of the vehicle remained at scene and spoke to police.
Both the child and mother were taken to hospital suffering from injuries related to the crash, the injuries are not thought to be life threatening. The last update that police have at this time is that the 3-year old child sustained a broken leg. There have been no charges laid at this time. Charges may be laid based on the outcome of the outstanding investigation.
