Montreal: The Competition Bureau of Canada has raided several Montreal-area construction firms on Tuesday. The bureau is looking into allegations of an anti-competitive agreement among construction firms. Gabrielle Tassé responded to Asian Journal’s query with following quote,“ Bureau is investigating alleged anti-competitive agreements relating to contracts for the development of public parks and squares, the construction and repair of sidewalks, and the
repair of streets, including pipes, sewers and paving, in the city of Montreal and its boroughs. Bureau officers are gathering evidence to determine the facts and there is no conclusion of wrongdoing at this time. No charges have been laid. Once the evidence has been analyzed and should there be evidence of conduct in violation of the Competition Act, the Bureau will take appropriate action.”
