Manila: The House of Representatives has approved on third and final reading a bill amending the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act in a bid to improve the country’s anti-drug operations. House Bill seeks to amend the law’s Section 21 was termed as too “stringent” and a “hindrance” to the campaign against drugs.
The conviction rate due to illegal drugs is only 7.30 percent or 8,063 out of 110,494 drug cases filed from 1999 to December 2010.
