Grande Prairie: A Correctional Peace Officer at the Peace River Correctional Centre (PRCC) was arrested and is facing drug charges following an Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) investigation.

Last week, ALERT’s Grande Prairie Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU), with the assistance of Peace Regional RCMP detachment members, seized quantities of marihuana, oxycodone pills, and methamphetamine that were intended to be smuggled into the corrections facility.

Thomas Black, 30, a correctional peace officer at the facility, faces three charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and one charge for possession of proceeds of crime. The drugs were found in a search of the accused’s vehicle. This investigation was started as a result of information provided by, and in co-operation with, the Security Intelligence Unit at the Peace River Correctional Centre.

Two other people unaffiliated to the corrections facility, Chantelle McAllister, 27, and Robin Wachter, 43, were also arrested and charged. A total of 14 drug-related charges have been sworn against the trio.
