On the 4 March, 2014 at approximately 17:50 hrs. the RCMP Fraser Valley Traffic Services, Hope RCMP and the BC Ambulance Service attended to a commercial vehicle crash on Hwy #1 at exit 165 West of Hope, BC.  It has been determined that a 2013 Volvo tractor trailer unit with two trailers loaded with lumber was traveling West on Hwy  #1 in the fast lane passing another tractor trailer.  The tractor trailer unit lost control and left the highway crossing a large median before coming to rest on its side completely blocking the three east bound lanes.

East bound traffic was diverted onto exit 165 through Hope past the crash scene for approximately four hours while crews cleared the roadway of the tractor trailer unit and debris.

The 34-year-old driver was the sole occupant of the tractor trailer unit received minor non-life threatening injuries.

Speed and weather are suspected factors of the cause of this crash. This matter is still being investigated by Fraser Valley Traffic Services.
