International trade is a career with a global reach.  Our world is increasingly interconnected and as such, products and services are moving quickly across borders to satisfy international demand. To stay ahead in this competitive industry, companies are hiring professionals with international trade expertise.

International trade encompasses many different aspects and has a variety of different career options available after graduation. Trade between Canada, the United States, and Mexico has been strong since the creation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in the mid-1980s, and has contributed to the growing need for international trade professionals.

In addition, the Canadian government has recently brokered a deal with the European Union which will see the implementation of a similar agreement set to go into effect in 2015. This will give Canada tariff free access to more than 30 new market places, making the demand for professionals with international trade expertise exponentially greater.

A diploma in International Trade will give you the skills, knowledge, and preparation to take advantage of these new opportunities in the international market. Moreover, you will also have the opportunity to overcome cultural barriers and to build lasting international alliances.

The varied career options available to international trade professionals include positions with private businesses, Foreign Service, academics, sciences, as well as, positions within the Canadian government. Careers in international trade provide stability and growth potential.

Our world is becoming increasingly interconnected and economic trade partnerships have never been more important. Canada has positioned itself as a global leader in international trade with strong relationships to the United States, China, and now the European Union. A career in international trade will allow you to play a vital role in not only Canada’s economy, but the global economy as well.
