Tara ZiyaSurrey: What an impressive sold out event High Chai was in Surrey. First off, Big Rupikudos to CITARA Events- Cindy and Tarannum for putting together such an amazing event and bringing together the community in this way. The occasion may have been Mother’s Day but the concept is an innovative formula to bring together the desi community in a modern way. High Chai is the first of many events that Citara Events hopes to bring to the local and regional areas.

Cindy Khella and Tarannum Thind are two prominent personalities within the desi community that have launched this venture, hence the name CIndy + TARAnnum= CITARA. They hope to bring a modern, fusion flavor of community events to BC. Together, these women combined their talents and resources to trail blaze yet another avenue.

High Chai wasn’t just a social event but also an opportunity to support an important charity- Hannah & Amelia’s Angels Foundation. The foundation focuses on giving back to children and orphanages and was inspired from a personal tragedy which the founder turned into an outlet for giving back.

Guests were also exposed to local entrepreneurs and rising business brands. Upon walking into the venue, the path to your table went through a foyer filled with vendor stations. The shopping experience was very accessible and at your own leisure.

The emceeing was masterfully done by actress and tv host Zara Durrani .The vendor stations consisted of various entrepreneurs and rising brands getting widely noticed locally and gaining ground quickly regionally as well as providing services internationally. Pieces were available for sale and many mothers left with additional gifts on their special day.

High Chai also provided an array of entertainment to keep the attendees engaged with dance and acrobatic performances by the Shiamak Dance Team, Blink Acro and Kara Jade & Paige.

The auction portion of the afternoon was engaging as well. The auctioneer, Ben Gill of Dominion Lending Services, provided a touch of humor with the first desi dialogue of laugh out loud one liners. Musical stylings by a young teenager, Arianna Abegayle, self-admittingly an Arianna Grande fan, blew the crowd away with her beautiful voice as well as musicality on the keyboard. For those waiting for a deeper voice to swoon over, enter Daksh Kubba. He serenaded everyone during the finale fashion show by house farola, featuring jewelry by Broken Halo Boutique, styled by Kanika Sasan and make up by Farah Hasan. The fashion show started off with a fun element of moms walking the runway with their child, followed by other models wearing vibrant floral pieces. The jewelry was edgy and provided a fresh feel to the floral silhouettes. The finale was a wonderful close to a fun filled afternoon.
