ON January 1 at about 1 a.m., the Surrey RCMP received a call of a possible domestic disturbance between a 23-year-old male and 19-year-old female at an apartment building in the 13000 block of 100 Avenue in Surrey.
Police found the victim on the ground after an apparent fall from the 26th floor. The female succumbed to her injuries and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken conduct of the investigation.
The victim was identified on Thursday by CTV as 19-year-old Maurine Arogie.
The male resident, who was taken into custody, was released the next day without being charged.
“IHIT investigators and the Surrey RCMP are working together at this very preliminary stage of the investigation.” Said IHIT Sgt. Adam MacIntosh.
