According to a recent report from the superintendent, nearly three-quarters of Surrey students who graduate from high school attend a post-secondary institution within four years. Of those heading off to pursue post-secondary, 41 per cent chose Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU).
So what makes KPU such a popular choice? With over 120 diverse programs in seven different faculties, the university offers students variety as they work towards a degree, diploma, certificate, citation, or complete apprenticeship training. Many programs provide the flexibility to study part-time, with certain courses available in the evening, on weekends, and even online allowing students to pursue learning that fits their life, and their schedule.
KPU has over 30 student services to help individuals throughout their entire education—from application to graduation. Interested in student athletics? The university is home to varsity teams that represent KPU in basketball, badminton, soccer, and golf, and offers fitness classes, intramural teams, and a dedicated on-campus fitness centre that’s free for students. Need help with an assignment? Each campus has a learning centre that offers workshops, tutoring, and additional resources. Or take advantage of volunteer and leadership opportunities and on-campus events through student life and development.
KPU is home to unique programs that are not offered at other post-secondary institutions. The new brewing and brewery operations diploma is one of only a handful of comparable programs in the country. The university will also be the first public, post-secondary institution to offer studies in traditional Chinese medicine. KPU’s Faculty of Arts has also grown with two new programs that recently launched; a bachelor of arts with a major in applied geography, and a bachelor of arts minor in language and culture. KPU is also home to the largest undergraduate School of Business in Western Canada, giving students a variety of programs to choose from including accounting, business management, information technology, and public relations, among others.
With four campus locations throughout Metro Vancouver—Surrey, Langley, Richmond, and Cloverdale—KPU is never far away. Campuses are easily accessible by public transit, and KPU even has a shuttle providing students with transportation between locations.
Planning to apply to KPU? The university provides students with close to $2 million annually in numerous awards, scholarships and bursaries, and has over $250,000 dedication to entrance scholarships for new students enrolling for the first time.
More than 17,500 students choose KPU annually, and you could be one of them.
