Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s (KPU) Surrey campus is hosting an open house on Saturday, February 28 from 11am-3pm, and you’re invited! This free, family-friendly event features something for everyone with engaging talks, contests, exhibits from KPU’s faculties, and a chance to win great prizes, including a $500 tuition waiver.
Get an up-close look at the Surrey campus during a guided tour. Visit classrooms, the library, study spaces, and labs while learning about program offerings and campus services. Campus tours will be given by current staff and students, or recent graduates, who can answer questions and share their experiences about KPU. Tours will run every half hour and include a swag bag full of free goodies and additional information.
KPU is home to seven distinct faculties, which will be hosting various exhibits at the open house. Pose for a “mugshot” courtesy of the criminology department, or look at anthropology’s bone exhibit. Feeling photogenic? Snap a selfie with the English department’s very own Shakespeare. Or, stop and watch a fast-paced salsa performance with modern languages. Get in touch with your inner artist while you check out the fine arts print making and ceramics workshop, or discover something new about yourself with a psychology quiz.
Test your luck—and your golf swing—with mini golf courtesy of the School of Horticulture. Or get messy and make slime balls with the chemistry department, before heading off to watch a science magic show. Listen to talks from the School of Business about career options and working in information technology, or take a chance on their spinning wheel.
Let representatives from the Faculty of Health check your blood pressure, or listen to a talk about non-traditional careers in healthcare, from forensic nursing to travelling and working on a cruise ship. Get hands-on and participate in a storyboard to win prizes from the Faculty of Academic and Career Advancement, or get a new look and be styled by fashion design students from the Chip and Shannon Wilson School of Design before participating in a live photo shoot.
KPU is home to the Eagles, who represent the university in varsity athletics. Stop by and meet the mascot, Kwinten, or hop on the university inter-campus shuttle for a free ride to the Newton Athletic Park to watch an Eagles soccer game on their home turf.
Considering KPU for your post-secondary plans? Listen to Student Awards and Financial Assistance’s mini lecture, “What’s in Your Wallet?”, and get tips and tricks about investing in your future, and your education.
