Surrey: Surrey: It was a regular meeting of Surrey City Council on Monday night, yet it marked the end of an era for out-going Mayor Dianne Watts after three terms on council and three terms as Mayor.
After a slate of zoning bylaws and other business, which was dispatched quickly, the Mayor made a presentation to Barinder Rasode with thanks for her work as a councillor.
Councillor Barinder Rasode ended her term with a statement of thanks for the service of Mayor Watts and congratulations for Mayor-elect Linda Hepner, adding that she was sure the city was in good hands. Hepner then made a farewell presentation to Watts, and following applause for her efforts, she called for a motion to adjourn, and it was all done. The new Mayor and Council will be sworn in at the next council meeting on Monday, December 8.
