Learning is a lifelong process. And at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), learners are being offered even more unique and flexible options to continue their education.
KPU now offers a range of continuing and professional studies (CPS) courses where individuals can expand their skill set, build upon their foundational knowledge of a subject area, try something new, and enhance future career prospects.
Courses are currently available in business, design, health, science and horticulture, and trades and technology, with new courses being developed, including conversational Mandarin, that will begin spring, 2015. CPS also provides workshops and seminars on a range of topics including health and well-being, nutrition, and the aging process.
Through KPU’s School of Business, students can access courses offered via the Knowledge Bureau which focus on financial education including taxation and bookkeeping. Other continuing and professional studies courses offered in business include business training for contractors, the entrepreneurial and marketing acumen series, and a series devoted to leading and managing effectively.
Want to become more computer savvy? The Chip and Shannon Wilson School of Design has got your back. With courses that include an introduction to Mac operating systems, basic web coding and HTML, and industry standard software including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and InDesign, learners will develop the skills necessary to create basic web pages, blogs, posters and print products.
For those looking to brush up on their math skills, the Faculty of Science and Horticulture provides courses in mental math for math teachers, and logic in
secondary mathematics. Or, brush up on the requirements of the BC Building Code with courses through the Faculty of Trades and Technology. Interesting in blacksmithing? CPS has got that, too.
Course offerings through the Faculty of Health will prepare those currently working in healthcare or nursing to write national exams, and learn new skills to deliver safe and effective patient care.
While all of KPU’s continuing and
professional studies courses have a strong professional focus, and are suited to meet the needs of specific industries, CPS also offers a series of courses on subject matter including how to integrate social media into your organization, creating visual
presentations, using Google Analytics, and mastering time management.
CPS courses, many of which are exclusive to KPU, are currently offered at the Surrey, Richmond, and Langley campuses, with specific courses available entirely online.
Registration is currently open.
