Gandhinagar: The US ambassador to India met Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, and BJP’s PM candidate on Thursday. Washington had boycotted Modi after Gujarat riots.US State Department had revoked Modi’s visa in 2005 over the riots in Gujarat in which more than 1,000 people were killed, most of them Muslims.A Supreme Court inquiry has declared there is no evidence that Mr Modi was complicit in the violence. “There has been no change in our long-standing visa policy,” State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki told a regular news briefing in Washington. “When individuals apply for a visa, their applications are reviewed in accordance with US law and policy. This is not a reflection of any change,” she added.
