May 23 Restaurant ReviewPerfect time to check them Wild Rice modern Chinese at the Quay, New Westminster is now. If you are kind that would like to go for long stalks or have a busy day at work and need a place to wind-down at the end of the day then we have found a perfect place for you. Wild Rice has evolved into one of the New Westminster’s most versatile and organically rooted restaurant, their goal is to keep the local farmers happy, and serve the customers the best in gluten free and Vegan dishes.

“We work with local family farms to bring to our customers fabulous natural ingredients.  You might know some of these folks from the Farmers market around the lower Mainland; we change our menu often while keeping many of the old favorites.  We love making food from scratch and hope you will enjoy our style of cooking” said Lisa

When asked how would she describe the dishes at Wild Rice, she said” Asian fusion with Western cooking methods, we like to keep it simple and customers can taste the freshness of our dishes as all our produce are fresh from the farmers market”

I must admit I was hungry when I walked in on a beautiful Sunday, it was early in the evening and it wasn’t that busy, but by the time I left the place got very busy, and if you want to sit in the patio, you will need to make reservation, or else first come first serve.  I skipped the appetizer menu and went for the main course, I ordered Green Curry, which comes with mixed vegetables in spicy green curry sauce with Jasmine rice, you have a choice of meat to add to your green curry, I had chili tofu added to my green curry, the potion are so huge, the amount of food they give you is enough to serve two people, I didn’t know that and bought the left over home for next days lunch. The food was exceptionally fresh and flavorful, the dish I had was Gluten free as well as Vegan. I didn’t even look at the dessert menu as I was too full to even consider anything else.

They also have daily drink specials, on Tuesdays you get $2 off cocktails, Wednesday get $2 off glass and $10off bottle, Thursday are $4 off highballs, and half price starters from 3 to 5 every Friday and Saturday, food and drinks are one thing, but the pricelss breath taking view of the Fraser River is a bonus.  I will just go there next time just to sit in the patio and have a drink and dessert.

They have seating for 88 people inside the restaurant and 32 in the patio; patio is open most of the time, until it gets very cold. Located 810 Quayside Drive in New Westminster by Donald’s Market, they have two locations, one at Quayside Drive and the other location is at 127 Pender Street in Vancouver, give them a call at 778-397-0028 for reservation or visit their website at
