Stay away from your phoneVancouver: Even after police forewarned the motoring public with several signs that warned you police are ahead and to stay off your phone, it appears that not everyone was reading the signs!

The two-hour operation, was held between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm, on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Police ticketed a total of 89 drivers, 74 for driving while distracted, the remainder for various Motor Vehicle offences.

The use of personal electronic devices while driving has been banned in BC since January 01, 2010, reflected Cpl. Richard De Jong of the North Vancouver RCMP. It is evident there is still more education and enforcement needed to make our roads safer!

The participating police agencies included North Vancouver RCMP, West Vancouver Police and the LMD Integrated Road Safety Unit targeting the two intersections of Marine Drive and Capilano Rd. along with Marine Drive and Taylor Way.
