Surrey: The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is seeking public assistance to further its investigation into the homicide of a Surrey resident.
On August 19, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Surrey RCMP received a report of a fight by the McDonald’s restaurant near 129 Street and 96 Avenue. When emergency services arrived, they found an unresponsive man lying in the parking lot. The victim was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries. IHIT was called in to take conduct of the investigation.
IHIT is working closely with its partners from the Surrey RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the B.C. Coroners Service to gather evidence.
IHIT is confirming 48-year-old Lakhwinder Singh Bal of Surrey was the victim of homicide. Mr. Bal was known to police and investigators believe his murder was not a random act.
Corporal Frank Jang of IHIT says, “We need those who knew Mr. Bal to come forward and assist our investigators piece together a time line of his activities leading up to his death.”
