THE final tally is now in for the Surrey RCMP’s winter edition of “Pack the Police Car.”

Surrey RCMP along with their partners from the Surrey Fire Services raised over 500 pounds of food and $900 in cash for the Cloverdale Christmas Hamper Program and Surrey Food Bank in just four hours.

“The generosity of our community was on full display again during this one day fundraising campaign,” says Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet. “This time of year is very tough on families, especially those less fortunate, and we can all help ease this stress by ensuring that no one goes hungry this holiday season.”

This is not the only holiday season Surrey RCMP event that involved helping those less fortunate. Recently the Surrey RCMP’s Youth Unit helped local high school students provide Christmas dinners to low income families. Thanks to a partnership with the Surrey Christmas Bureau and a major retail chain, the Youth Unit also accompanied a number of underprivileged youth as they shopped for groceries and Christmas presents for their families.

The Surrey RCMP would like remind the public that the local food banks accept donations all year long. For more information and to donate visit:
