The teenager had Type 1 diabetes and died of extreme neglect

Calgary: Parents of the teenager who was in immense medical distress when emergency crews reached his home in Citadel on May 7 last year will be charged with first degree murder. The autopsy determined that the boy died from a bacterial infection, which he contracted due to complications from neglect and starvation from Type 1 diabetes. Investigations have revealed that boy was diagnosed with diabetes when family was living in BC. But once in Calgary the boy did not have access to medical facilities. It is still not clear why the parents did not take care of their son. There are eight more siblings of that boy and all are grown up adults. The emergency crew members who were first to reach to the ailing boy had to be given counseling to come out of the shock of seeing highly deteriorated condition of  young boy in his own home.
