Surrey/ New Wesminster: Jasbir Sandhu, NDP MP for Surrey North has once again reiterated his stand on Pattullo Bridge, he wants the federal government to take initiative and enter the discussions about the replacement of the aging Pattullo Bridge. His statement came in response to on-going discussion surrounding construction of a tolled four-lane bridge. “Those who live or work in Surrey are disproportionally targeted by tolled bridges. It is not fair,” states Sandhu. New Westminster Mayor is supporting a tolled 4-lane crossing to reduce traffic from tolled Port Mann

The Port Mann Bridge and the Golden Ears Bridge, both of which feed into Surrey, are the only tolled bridges west of Ontario. The Pitt River Bridge, connecting Pitt Meadows and Port Coquitlam, built at the same time as the Golden Ears, is not tolled because it received federal funding.

Asian Journal contacted City of Surrey for their comment on the proposed toll but received no response till the  time of filing of the news.
