Pitt Meadows: A 23 year old Surrey young man was hit by a pickup truck in Pitt Meadows. Ridge Meadows collision unit said that collision has left the victim on life support.
The crash occurred just after midnight on Thursday in the 19100 block of Lougheed Highway. The pickup truck was travelling westbound when the pedestrian ran across the highway. It is believed the pedestrian had to climb over the cement barrier that divides east and west bound traffic, just before colliding with the truck.
The victim was rushed to hospital by members of the B.C. Ambulance Service. Police also want to acknowledge, and thank, members of the Pitt Meadows Fire Department and an off duty nurse who all rendered medical aid to the victim, as well as assisting with traffic control at this scene.
Investigation into the crash is continuing.
