Victoria: The Province is seeking public input to shape new provincial policing standards that will promote unbiased policing.

In response to recommendations from the Missing Women Commission of Inquiry, the B.C. government is encouraging the public and stakeholders to share their ideas on ways to promote equality in the delivery of policing services in the province.

This engagement will help ensure police services are delivered in a manner that is fair, equitable and responsive to the needs of vulnerable groups – key to how government continues to build a safer province.

Stakeholders and British Columbians can participate in the public engagement online, or contribute feedback through email and mail submissions. For more information, please visit: http://engage.gov.bc.ca/unbiasedpolicing/

The Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General will build on its analyses of relevant, existing policy and literature, and use the input it receives during the engagement process to help develop standards and guiding principles.

The results of the engagement will be posted on the Promoting Unbiased Policing Engagement website.
