Sexsmith, AB: Members of the RCMP Serious Crime Unit in Chilliwack, British Columbia, arrested Jordan Joseph WENDLAND, age 28 years, for second degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault stemming from an incident in Sexsmith, on Sunday, October, 25 wherein four men were stabbed.
The investigation into the incident allowed police to gather enough evidence to obtain a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of WENDLAND on three counts of aggravated assault and one count of second degree murder, after one of the four victims died from his injuries. Police were able to identify WENDLAND’s whereabouts after receiving several tips from the public in response to a media release yesterday requesting the public’s assistance in locating WENDLAND whom was believed to have fled Sexsmith for the Lower Mainland area of B.C..
Early this morning, the RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit in Chilliwack, B.C. were able to track WENDLAND to a local residence (in Chilliwack) through information gleaned from the tips received from the public. The RCMP kept the residence under surveillance and, in an effort to ensure the safety of the public, proceeded to contain the scene. At approximately 6:20 A.M., the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) entered the residence and arrested Jordan WENDLAND without incident.
WENDLAND, currently is in custody in Chilliwack, B.C.. Information relating to a date when WENDLAND will make his first appearance in a Grande Prairie court is not available at this time.
