Dead but alive. Brave but not out. Compelling and I forgetful is the face behind Stronger. Taken from the pages of current history comes this inspirational offering from EOne Entertainment now warming hearts over at the International Village Cinemas.
Terrorism is the blight of society. People just wanting to run free meet a face worse than death in that infamous Boston Marathon of a few seasons past. Front and center set the carnage was mild-mannered likeable Jeff Bauman. Left legless Stronger is his story and what it meant to a city and country.
Compassion rings true thanks to Jake Gyllenhaal’s performance as a troubled lost in love Costco employee who winds up in the wrong place at the wrong time. How Bauman copes with a monumental recovery is the stiff of legends. Full of uncertainty in the home front and beyond we see the stresses and strains such a catastrophic injury has on the victim, his surrounding family and adoring friends.
Part love story part family friction and all heart Stronger gives rise to a sense of pride and community that will pull away at your heartstrings. Down to earth performances from the entire cast especially those close family members and friends makes this two-hour movie quite emotional and well worth seeing.
