Surrey: The City of Surrey will welcome the 2019 Canada Skateboard National Event Series on Saturday, June 15 at the Cloverdale Youth Park.

The Canada Skateboard National Event Series is a non-profit contest, featuring both men’s and women’s

street skateboarding.  This series will establish the Canadian National Skateboard ranking list, which gives skaters the chance to represent Canada at international events leading up to the 2020 Tokyo Summer Games.

Spectators will also have the opportunity to meet Rose Archie, one of this year’s special guest judges for the competition.  Rose is a driven and passionate Indigenous skateboarder who left her home on the reserve to forge a new path through the sport.  She has become one of the most influential women in Canadian skateboarding, connecting and empowering women in her community through sport and her philosophy of staying true to yourself.

In addition to the National Event Series, the Surrey Rides program will also be onsite. Surrey Rides is a free skateboard, scooter and bike competition for riders 21 years and younger.  Launching on Saturday, June 8, Surrey Rides provides youth of all skill levels the opportunity to participate in various competitions throughout the summer.  Riders earn points for a chance to win prizes.
