Thai PM Yingluck_Shinawatra

Bangkok: The Thai Constitutional court accepted for consideration a petition filed by a group of senators against caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. The petition submitted by 28 senators argued that Yingluck’s order to transfer Thawil Pliensri from the post of secretary- general of the National Security Council (NSC) in 2011 violated the constitution.
The transfer was made to the benefit of Yingluck, the petition claimed. The court asked Yingluck to explain herself within 15 days of it receiving the documents backing the petition.
The move by the Constitutional Court to accept the case will “add more pressure to the current caretaker government and might ultimately lead to some form of forced compromise between the major political wings,” legal advisor and political analyst Verapat Pariyawong commented.
