Surrey Campus Library_rszStarting, or re-starting, your post-secondary education can be an exciting time, and a big investment. With so many options it can be hard to find what’s right for you at one institution. At Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) students have the flexibility to transfer their courses to another post-secondary, or, apply credits acquired at a different institution to the university.

Receiving universities (the one where credits are being transferred to) determine the transferability of individual programs and courses. While KPU might not offer a particular program (like law, or veterinary studies) students are able to complete select courses, general degree requirements, and prerequisites at one of KPU’s Metro Vancouver campuses and transfer into their desired program elsewhere at a later date, reducing tuition costs, and creating a more gradual transition from secondary school to university studies. Universities generally will accept 60 undergraduate credits (approximately two years of full time study), allowing transfer students to move into their third year of studies at the receiving institution.

A wide variety of courses taken at other BC colleges and universities are transferrable to KPU. Students pursuing an undergraduate degree commonly transfer into their third year of studies, allowing for a stronger focus on their intended discipline. Many of KPU’s programs feature practicums, work experience, and hands-on learning opportunities at the third and fourth year level, giving students practical experience, they may not find elsewhere. Those interested in transferring credits to KPU can make a request when they submit their application. There is no additional fee for the transfer credit assessment, however additional documentation may be required. More information about transfer credit is available in the BC Transfer Guide at www.bctransferguide.ca

For more than 30 years, Kwantlen Polytechnic University has provided students with the skills they need for the careers they want.
