Sicamous: A Dodge pick-up truck collided with  Canadian Pacific Railway train on the rail way tracks near Solsaqua Road.

Upon arrival, police discovered sitting eastbound partially on the rail way tracks near Solsaqua Road, approximately 8 kms east of Sicamous. The truck had been impacted from the rear by the train. The early stages of the investigation indicate the truck was initially travelling eastbound on highway 1 when it left the roadway and became lodged on the tracks. The train crew was able to apply the brakes thereby slowing it down considerably prior to the impact.

All emergency services including RCMP, CP Rail Police, BC Ambulance and the Eagle Valley Highway Rescue Unit arrived quickly on scene. The driver, and lone occupant of the truck, was air lifted to the Royal Inland Hospital with undetermined injuries.

Canadian Pacific Police based in Revelstoke will be the lead agency on this investigation. Any further media enquiries can be directed to their media line at 1-855-242-3674.
