New Delhi: The UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) launched an integrated drug information system (IDIS), a day before the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
IDIS was launched during a panel discussion, organised at Alliance Francaise here, on the theme “A message of hope: Drug use disorders are preventable and treatable”.
IDIS, a web-based application that collates and analyses information on drug use extent and patterns, will provide early warning signs on new drugs being used, an UNODC official told IANS.
The International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking is observed every year June 26 to commemorate the signing of the declaration adopted at the international conference against drug abuse and trafficking on that day in 1987.
