Canada's newly appointed Sikh Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan

VANCOUVER: On Sunday, April 30, 2017, the Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan, Member of Parliament for Vancouver South, will host its second annual community event on emergency preparedness – Emergency Preparedness Fair at Walter Moberly Elementary School.
“This year’s event is sure to build on the success of the previous fair and bring emergency preparedness to the forefront of our neighbourhood concerns,” said Harjit Sajjan, Member of Parliament for Vancouver South. “It is vital that our community and families are safe during emergency situations. This fair offers the first steps in ensuring we’re all ready to act in an emergency.”
To kick off Emergency Preparedness Week, Vancouver South constituents and neighbours are invited to come get information and advice on being prepared for emergencies and natural disasters. Our community partners, the Vancouver Fire Department, Vancouver Police Department, St. John Ambulance, Canadian Red Cross, Rexall, and Fortis BC, will provide information and tips that will assist families and residents to prepare for any emergencies. There will also be information available from ShakeOut BC.
At this family-friendly community event, kids can check out the inside of a fire truck and meet four Fire Rescue dogs – see how much Ledge, named at last year’s event, has grown. Come meet a firefighter, police officer and a St. John Ambulance first aide volunteer or play the Fortis BC Plinko game. Show off your art skills at the colouring station to enter a draw for a gift basket, and much more.
