Vancouver: Police are warning the public after a 13-year-old girl was the focus of a sexually motivated incident at English Bay. The young girl was spending some time at the beach with friends on July 2nd. At a moment when she was alone, she was approached by a man who struck up a conversation and asked her a number of personal questions.

The man made the young girl very uncomfortable and despite her efforts to ignore him, he continued with the inappropriate conversation. The suspect then exposed himself to the 13-year old.

The girl left the beach and told a life guard about the incident. Police were called, but a search of the area by car, foot and bike turned up no sign of the man.

The suspect is described as white, about 40 years old, 5’8” tall, 190 lbs., with short brown hair, brown eyes and a tattoo on his left upper arm.

At one point in the conversation, the man told the young girl that he was born in Italy and recently got back from a trip there.

Anyone with information, who may have also been approached by this man or may know his identity, is asked to call the Vancouver Police Sex Crimes Unit at (604) 717-0604 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222 8477.
