North Vancouver: On July 23rd, 2009, 28 year old Brandon Hughes was returning home from being out at the Celebration of Lights Fireworks in Vancouver when gun fire broke out. Brandon was at the gate to his home when he was fatally struck. His father, Kevin Hughes tried in vain to save him but he was pronounced dead in hospital. The circumstances and information obtained in the investigation support this was a targeted shooting, but five years later there is little information known about who is responsible.

“The investigation remains open and active.  Time and distance can be a factor in our favour in historical investigations.  There are people out there who know what happened and we need them to come forward.” said Sgt. Adam MacIntosh of IHIT.
