Markham, ON: In support of the 49th Annual CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish, Honda Canada and the Ontario Honda dealers collected more than thirty-six hundred toys that will soon be delivered to children across the Greater Toronto Area. The Honda toy drive began on November 1st and involved the participation of all 78 Ontario Honda dealers.

Ontario residents were asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy to their local Honda dealer.  In return for their generous donation, each received an online ballot making them eligible to win a new car.  One lucky winner was randomly selected during this morning’s CP24 Breakfast broadcast. Cathy Longhurst, from Georgetown, ON, is now the proud owner of a brand new 2016 silver Civic EX sedan.

“The CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish brings joy to children and families in need and Honda Canada couldn’t be happier to be a part of this important cause for the fifth year,” said Jerry Chenkin, President and CEO of Honda Canada. “We’d like to thank our customers, associates and suppliers for their generous donations, as well as the continued involvement of Honda dealers across the province. This is what holiday giving is all about.”

The Honda Civic is Canada’s best-selling passenger car for 17 consecutive. Honda associates in Alliston, Ontario have built more than 4.5 million Civics since 1988.  Since 1973, 1.9 million Canadians have chosen Civic as their car.

Honda is committed to giving back to the communities where its associates and customers live, work and play and is involved with such programs as Earth Rangers Bring Back the Wild, Junior Red Riders, Let’s Talk Science, CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish, Make-A-Wish® Canada and the Ontario Science Centre.
