needleBurnaby: The Burnaby RCMP is looking for the public’s help in identifying a man involved in an unprovoked assault that took place in the middle of the morning at a busy intersection in southwest Burnaby.

The victim was walking eastbound on the south side of Kingsway and was stopped at a light at McKay Avenue when a man stood beside her and allegedly stabbed her leg with a needle. The victim, who reported the incident an hour later at the Southwest Community Police Station, was treated at hospital and later released.

“While the nature of this incident is a significant concern for police, it is also highly unusual,” said investigative services officer Inspector Bob Page.

“The suspect’s description stands out and we remain hopeful that someone will identify him. That’s why we are urging the public to share the suspect’s description with your families and friends,” Bob said.

The suspect is described as dark-skinned male with dyed blonde short hair. He is approximately 35-years-old and 5’7” tall
