Edmonton: 130 portables will be in place across the province by the next school year and 26 of them will be in Edmonton. This move will help ease the problem of overcrowding in Edmonton schools. Edmonton’s public board had in fact asked the province for 22 modular classrooms. Boris Radyo, assistant superintendent of education planning for Edmonton’s Catholic school board, said the addition of 26 new modular rooms is “very good news.” Each modular classroom costs an average of $170,000 to construct, said Alberta Education spokeswoman Tracy Larsen.
