New Westminster:  The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has assumed conduct of an investigation of a homicide of homeless man in New Westminster.

On August 16, 2014 the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) found a deceased man in the area of Sapperton Landing on the North bank of the Fraser River. The victim has been identified as 36 year old Christian Klatt.

The NWPD processed the scene and in conjunction with evidence found through scene examination and the results of the autopsy, it has been determined that foul play is a factor.

IHIT is working closely with the NWPD to identify witnesses, persons of interest and determine a motive.

The victim resided in the New Westminster area; however, he did not have a fixed address. It is believed he was residing in the location where he was located, which was a makeshift camp.
