Sunshine Coast: 47 year old Donovan Penner, the son of 67-year-old victim Esma Lachance has been charged for killing her. Donovan is charged with Second Degree Murder. Penner has been remanded and will appear in Sechelt Provincial Court on October 15 via video.
On October 1, 2014 the Sunshine Coast RCMP along with BC Ambulance Service attended the residence in the 5200 block of Selma Park Road in Sechelt. Upon attendance to the residence Esma was located dead and appeared to have injuries consistent with foul play. The Sunshine Coast RCMP located and arrested a suspect at the scene.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team took the conduct of the investigation.
“I can tell you that this incident does not appear to be a random attack and that the suspect and victim were known to each other. While the motive has not been confirmed it appears to be domestic related, “says Staff Sergeant Jennifer Pound.
