Surrey: A 39-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a woman in Surrey over the weekend.

Surrey RCMP was called to a residence in the 10000 block of 128A Street just before 6:00 a.m. on Sunday March 20, after a resident reported hearing an altercation. Police found two injured women on the scene.

Police say paramedics could not revive a 61-year-old woman found inside the home, while a 35-year-old female victim had non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested Badhesa yesterday at the scene. In addition to the murder charge, Sukhvir Badhesa is also accused of aggravated assault and uttering threats in what police say is related to domestic violence.

“IHIT was able to move very quickly through the initial stages of this investigation as a result of the quick work of Surrey RCMP in identifying what can be described as a domestic violence related homicide. IHIT remains on scene at the residence and will focus on ensuring all investigational steps are taken as the matter moves through the court process.” Says Sergeant Stephanie Ashton, Media Relations Officer for IHIT.
