Manila: Malaysia is undergoing a traumatic crisis owing to the disappearance of the Malaysia Airlines plane, but Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak visited Manila to witness the historic signing of the final peace agreement between Philippines and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). This peace accord is termed as a significant political achievement for President Benigno Aquino III.
The deal grants largely Muslim areas of the southern Mindanao region greater political autonomy in exchange for an end to armed rebellion. Aquino and leaders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front witnessed the signing of the agreement in the presidential palace in Manila. About 1,000 people attended the signing ceremonies, including guerrilla commanders wearing business suits instead of military uniforms.
