Will Aamir Khan’s PK Salvage Bollywood’s 2014!!
Barring a few potboiler commercial hits, which went on to cross Rs. 100 Crores at the box-office, like Kick, Happy New Year, Bang Bang, Jai Ho, Holiday & Singham Returns and 2 States, Ek Villain, Gunday & Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya, which also did very well, Bollywood doesn’t really have much to celebrate this year . Yes, few women-centric films like Queen, Mardaani, Mary Kom & Dedh Ishqiya delighted many and Haider, Citylights, Highway & Rang Rasiya, which finally saw the light after almost 5 years, are a class apart and stood tall amidst the gloom but the rest of Bollywood 2014 is anything but satisfying for movie buffs all over and that’s why expectations are high from year’s last big release which also happens to be Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Raj Kumar Hirani & Aamir Khan’s latest offering “PK”. Their last offering rewrote history of Indian cinema and many acknowledge 3 Idiots as one of India’s finest film ever and many are already predicting their latest film to break all box-office records. PK is the best film of my life and certainly the best of Aamir Khan ‘, said India’s cricket hero Sachin Tendulkar after a special screening of the film and the Ambanis, Mukesh & Nita, had nothing but praise for the film after Aamir Khan arranged a screening at Antila, their billion dollar home in Mumbai. Keeping in mind that Aamir Khan’s last film Dhoom 3, inspite of being thrashed by critics all over, went on to make over Rs. 500 Crores at the box-office, his latest film is being released at over 5,000 screens this Friday and many pundits are expecting a thunderous opening and few new records as well. That PK has Rajkumar Hirani’s favourite Sanjay Dutt, still languishing at Pune prison, Anushka Sharma & Sushant Singh in important roles, should enhance the box-office chances as Shantanu Moitra’s music is catching on and some songs are already on top. Fresh from the success of Season 3 of Satyamev Jayate, Aamir Khan is on a publicity blitz all across India as he connects with Indians in his style and going by the response, I think it can be safely assumed that Vinod Chopra, Raj Kumar Hirani & Aamir Khan have another hit which could very well erase the disappointment of 2014 and usher a new era of entertainment in Bollywood again!!!
