Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) offers a range of services and unique programs for learners beginning their academic journey.
New to the province? New to post-secondary education? Attend a Newcomer Education Session at KPU. These free information sessions, tailored to new immigrants, refugees, and community and settlement workers, provide a wealth of information and resources about admission requirements, testing options and English language courses, adult literacy programs, academic upgrading, career exploration programs, financial aid, and the application process.
The next Newcomer Education Session is happening Wednesday, December 16 from 6:00-7:30pm at the KPU Surrey campus—12666 72 Avenue.
Looking to improve your English language skills? The Faculty of Academic and Career Advancement at KPU provides several options for students needing to upgrade their English and prepare for other further studies or professional programs. Assessment tests provide students with prerequisite scores ensuring individuals are placed in the appropriate program level to guarantee success.
The intensive program is designed for students whose first language is not English, and need English language preparation, starting at a beginner level. Students learning English at the beginner level complete preparatory courses working through to the intermediate level and the English language proficiency diploma.
The schedule is flexible, with full-time and part-time options available. Learners can quickly develop university-level skills through this 7 week accelerated format. Accelerated courses start in September, November, January, March, May, and July. KPU’s new pathways program means that students working towards an English language studies diploma can complete select university courses alongside their English studies course requirements, beginning the transition into their intended faculty and desired undergraduate credential.
